Description

The Temple’s Cancer Ministry offers the following downloads for parents to celebrate Yule with their younger children.

Yule, the Winter Solstice, is the longest night of the year, but it is also the time when we honor and await the rebirth of the Light, the coming of the Child of Promise in the form of the reborn Sun, as the days from the Solstice onwards will begin to get longer and longer, just like the Sun Child growing from birth into childhood. It is a quiet time of thanks, gratitude, and hoping for a better tomorrow.

As you many know, many of the common trappings of the Christmas holiday in Europe and America are originally pagan! Decorating evergreen trees and bringing evergreens, holly, and mistletoe into the home emphasize the power of life in the cold of wintertime.

This download consists of a 5-page ritual outline, 2-page instructions for making a paper Yule lantern, a 2-page ginger-snap recipe for the celebration (perfect cookies to leave out overnight as an offering to the Sun Child!) and a fun two-page story about the struggle between the Holly King of Winter and the Oak King of Summer as the light begins to grow once more. All proceeds support the Temple of Witchcraft’s ongoing work.
