Samhain Psychic Fair & Ritual – October 25th

The time of the third harvest has come and with it time for the Temple of Witchcraft’s annual Samhain Psychic Fair & RitualSaturday, October 25th, in Derry, NH.

The Psychic Fair

Our Psychic Fair and Marketplace is a day-long event, featuring psychic readers (using a variety of techniques and modalities) and local artisans and vendors, including our own Temple Store. It is held at the Upper Village Hall, 52 East Derry Road, in Derry, NH and is open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th. Admission to the Fair is free to all, although donations are gratefully accepted.

Come and visit, shop, take in a reading, and enjoy a wonderful Fall afternoon in New Hampshire! If you have never attended a Temple event before, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet and get to know some of our ministers and members of our community.

The Temple Store is pleased to announce that it will be offering the brand-new Laurie Cabot’s Book of Spells & Enchantments from Copper Cauldron Publishing for sale. Don’t miss out on one of the first chances to purchase the first new book from “The Official Witch of Salem” in more than fifteen years!

Samhain Ritual

In the evening after our Psychic Fair closes, join the Temple of Witchcraft for the celebration of Samhain, the Third Harvest and the Festival of the Ancestors. As the Veil thins, we make the journey between the worlds to discover our core, our true self. We can more easily commune with the ancestors and receive their wisdom. An ancestor altar will honor those who have passed before us. Come in all your ritual finery, bring a potluck item to share in community feasting, and celebrate the turning of the wheel with the Temple!

The ritual is also held at the Upper Village Hall, 52 East Derry Road, in Derry, NH, and is from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. We ask for a $15 to $25 sliding scale donation to help cover our expenses and pre-registration is strongly encouraged, as space (even at the Hall) is limited, and this is our biggest event of the year! You can register online to attend the evening, or at the door. If you have questions about registration, please email [email protected].

Our ritual is open to all faiths and traditions interested in celebrating the mystery of the seasons in Perfect Love and Trust.

Ritual Potluck

We have the opportunity to share the bounty of the harvest together as a community with our after-sabbat potluck feast! Please consider bringing an item to share, based on the first letter of your last name:
  • A–E: A sweet or savory dessert: cookies, cake, pie, fresh or dried fruit, chocolate (good for grounding!), etc.
  • F–J: Beverages (non-alcoholic, please): tea, cider, fruit juice, lemonade, etc.
  • K–O: A grain item such as bread or crackers, possibly with an accompaniment like cheese or hummus, if you wish.
  • P–S: A side dish, perhaps a salad of vegetables or fruits (or both!). Try to keep salads vegetarian (no meat) or vegan (no animal products, including milk or cheese).
  • T–Z: A main dish which could include a protein (either meat or vegetarian).

Provide enough for 8–10 servings. If everyone contributes, then there is plenty to share! If you can, please label your food item so we know what it is and if it is vegetarian or vegan (if not labeled, we will assume it is neither). Our Mother Ministry provides all the necessary eating utensils, cups, napkins, and so forth. If you have questions about what to bring, please email [email protected].

Samhain Coat Drive

Join the Temple as we share the warmth on Samhain: The colder months are upon us, and in New England we know just how cold that can be! The Temple will be collecting new and gently used (clean) winter coats for a local shelter. Now’s the time to go through your closets and storage! Please consider all ages and sizes when donating a coat, from infant to adult. If you have questions, please email [email protected].

Temple Bell Call for Submissions

As Samhain approaches and we enter the dark half of the year, we work within both physically and spiritually. The Temple Bell is looking for submissions sharing members’ workings for the new turn of the Wheel of the Year.

We also are always willing to see reviews, rituals, and pieces dealing with the Sabbat. Please send any queries to the [email protected].

Samhain Coat Drive

This Samhain it’s time to go through your closets, basement, and attic and join the Temple as we look to share the warmth! The colder months are before us and here in New England we know just how cold that can feel! The Temple will be collecting new and gently-used (clean) cold-weather coats for a local shelter at our New Hampshire and Maine Samhain rituals on October 25th and November 1st, respectively.

You can also drop off coat donations during the day at our Samhain Psychic Faire at the Upper Village Hall (52 East Derry Road, Derry, NH) from 10 am to 5 pm. Please consider all ages and sizes when donating a coat, from infant to adult. If you have any questions about donations, please email [email protected].

If you want to get a head-start on your holiday shopping (as they come so quickly!) keep in mind that the Temple will once again be collecting for Toys for Tots at our Yule Winter Solstice ritual on December 20th in New Hampshire.

Celebrate the Season of the Witch

IMG_0755Although this past weekend in New Hampshire featured summer-like temperatures and sunshine, the changing leaves on the trees certainly know that Autumn is here: the “Season of the Witch.” The Temple of Witchcraft is preparing for a busy October, with a wide range of offerings including classes, workshops, rituals, and more!

On Sunday, October 5th (the first weekend), we have our Children’s Ministry Mabon Ritual from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, followed by our Scorpio Ministry Ritual for Those Mourning a Loss and Honoring the Ancestors from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, both held in South Hampton, NH. Online registration is open (and encouraged!) for both events. Email [email protected] for information about Children’s Ministry events and [email protected] for more on the ritual.

The following Friday, October 10th, features the Congress of the Bones ritual at the Temple in Salem, NH, from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. This is one of three “founder rituals” performed annually by the Temple Founders and involves communion with the ancestors, beloved dead, and the Mighty Dead of our Timeless Tradition. Online registration is available and space is limited, so pre-registration is encouraged.

After Columbus Day Weekend, we have the Temple’s monthly Protection Ritual in Salem, NH, at 7:00 pm. Email [email protected] for details or to register to attend.

On October 16th, the Scorpio Ministry offers an Ancestor Letter-Writing class in conjunction with our Letters to the Ancestors call for Samhain. The class is not required to participate in the effort, but is open to those who might need assistance in composing their letter(s).

October 18th, join us at Celebrate Samhain in Peterborough, NH, for a day of vendors, workshops, and Samhain events. The Temple will have a table at the event to offer information and goods from the Temple Store.

Then … Saturday, October 25th is the main event! The Temple’s annual Psychic Faire and Samhain Celebration! A day-long event with psychic readers, local crafters and artisans, and the offerings from the Temple Store, including an all-new book from Laurie Cabot, the “Official Witch of Salem, MA”—Laurie Cabot’s Book of Spells & Enchantmentswith contributions by Laurie’s student, Temple founder Christopher Penczak! The faire is free and open to the public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Then, at 7:00 pm is our annual Samhain Ritual. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, as this is by far the most heavily attended ritual of the year!

But we’re still not finished! The week after our New Hampshire Samhain celebration, the Temple offers a rare opportunity: a lecture by noted scholar Philip Hesselton on Gerald Gardner and the modern Witchcraft revival, October 28th at 7:00 pm at the Temple in Salem, NH.

That weekend, November 1st, is the start of the Temple of Witchcraft offering Wheel of the Year sabbats in Portland, Maine! High Priestess Silver Lyons and High Priest Casey O’Brien will offer a Samhain Ritual at the Allen Avenue UU Church, 524 Allen Ave., Portland, ME, starting at 7:00 pm.

Then it’s Samhain for the little ones as the Children’s Ministry offers its Samhain ritual on Sunday, November 2nd, at 2:00 pm in South Hampton, NH. Email [email protected] for more information.

That’s ten events in just one turn of the moon! We hope to see you at some of our celebrations of the Season of the Witch and the turning of the Wheel – Samhain blessings to all!

Temple Sabbats in Portland, Maine

caseynsilverWe’re pleased and excited to  announce that the Temple of Witchcraft will now be offering public Sabbat rituals in Portland Maine! These Wheel of the Year celebrations will be facilitated by High Priestess Silver Lyons and High Priest Casey O’Brien. Both graduates of the Temple’s Mystery School, Silver and Casey became fast friends and found a magickal connection in doing ritual workings together. Through that connection they felt called to share the Great Work with others and have found a supportive community at the Allen Avenue UU Church in Portland, Maine.

Their first Sabbat begins on November 1st with Samhain, the third harvest, where they will be honoring the sacred spirits who have crossed over, opening the way for communication and healing. You can pre-register for the Maine Samhain ritual here:

Please visit the Temple’s calendar and sign up to our online mailing list for information on future Maine Sabbats.

We look forward sharing these rituals with the greater Maine community!

For more information about the Maine Sabbats, or if you have questions, please contact Silver at [email protected] or Casey at [email protected]
