Yule, the winter solstice, honored the return of the light. We gather to mark the longest night of the year. It is dark and cold in the northern hemisphere, and winter is upon us. After the winter solstice though, the days become longer. In our mythos, it is the birth of the sun god, beginning our Wheel of the Year cycle again. The child of light born on the longest night reminds us to shine our inner light into the world.
