Imbolc is the time of year that we begin to notice that the days are growing longer since the return of the Sun at Yule. In some parts of the world the first signs of spring are beginning to show. In Ireland where the Goddess Brigit is honored this time of year, lambs are being born and drinking their mother’s milk. (Imbolc or Oimelc means milk.) It is a celebration of new life and new beginnings. Even though in many places it’s still very much Winter we know the promise of spring is just around the corner.
