Student Spotlight: Dragon

photo(2)Please welcome Dragon to our Student Spotlight! She is a Witchcraft III student with Alix Wright, who was also her Witchcraft I and II teacher. In her recommendation, Alix said of Dragon, “She is fully supportive of everyone in her class, while honoring and maintaining her own practice. She created Shadow Journals for her class during Witchcraft III, attended and participated in Wheel of the Year rituals, and volunteered for the Temple.”

Thank you, Dragon, for sharing your skills and talents with the Temple community, and for sharing your story with The Temple Bell!

Tell us a little about yourself, please.

I’m an eclectic Witch who has been practicing the Craft for nearly two decades. I’ve been a practitioner of the divinatory arts for much longer. In recent years I’ve focused my attention on kitchen witchery and domestic magick. Celebrating the sabbats and marking the seasonal changes are amongst the most important expressions of my faith.

What class are you currently taking with the Temple?

I’m currently enrolled in Witchcraft III and loving it. I have loved all the Mystery School classes. Each one has taught me something new and helped me expand and deepen my spiritual practice. Witchcraft III has been the hardest, by far, but also the most rewarding because I believe the work I am doing in this course is turning me into a better person.

What drew you to the Temple’s mystery school?

For years I was looking for a teacher in the Craft, as I had not had any formal training since my first few years of practice. When I moved to New England, I found the Temple on Witchvox and decided to attend a sabbat ritual. I was so impressed with Christopher [Penczak]. I have met many Pagan authors/celebrities and none of them had struck me as being as genuine as Christopher. I decided he was a teacher from whom I could learn.  At the time he was teaching Witchcraft I online and I enrolled; however, I was not in a place in my life where I could devote myself to the course, and I dropped out. A year later I decided to take Witchcraft I in-person with Alix. They say that when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Well, this was very true for me because everything fell into place. I got an excellent teacher and have formed a tremendous bond with the ladies in my class.

How do you use what you’ve learned in your daily life?

Whenever I’m having a tough day, I come back to the lessons I’ve learned in my Witchcraft classes. I’ve learned how to better process energy and maintain better balance in my life. I also perform more magick now. Conscious use of magick has helped me pay my bills, attain professional goals, and find love. Pretty awesome.

What’s next for you as a student/member of the Temple?

I plan to continue my studies through Witchcraft V. Now that I have been with the Temple for a while, I would really like more opportunities to participate in the Temple functions as a volunteer or in ritual. Perhaps one day I can even serve in one of the ministerial offices. I guess we’ll see.
