Queer Spirit Cafés

For Pride Month, the Temple’s Gemini ministry is pleased to announce it will be offering a monthly “Queer Spirit Café” event on Saturday afternoons at the Temple’s home in Salem, New Hampshire, beginning on July 8th, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

What is a Queer Spirit Café?

The purpose of the Queer Spirit Café is the creation of safe and sacred space for the discussion of LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex—under the general banner of “queer spirit”) topics and issues with relationship to spirituality, particularly neopagan spirituality and Witchcraft. Although facilitated by Temple volunteers, the cafés are informal events and all are welcome, regardless of membership, spiritual practice, or identity. A few key points:

  • The Queer Spirit Café is a safe and affirming space for queer spirit. Prejudice and disrespect will not be tolerated.
  • Anyone is welcome, regardless of how they identity, and no one is asked to disclose or proclaim their gender or sexual orientation, if they do not wish to do so.
  • Similarly, the event is offered for the community. You do not need to be a Temple member to attend. Although discussion will often focus on queer spirit as it is expressed and experienced through the Temple’s theology and practices, we welcome respectful outside views.
  • Attendees must be 18 years old or older, please.

At the café, we’ll have introductions, discussion topics, opportunities to speak and ask questions in safe space, and some light refreshments to share along with good company. For further information or to confirm your intention to attend, please email [email protected], or simply drop by!
